As  fencing coach and director of the Profencing Youth Elite Fencing Program  I see the need to evaluate the first semester of the 2009-2010 USFA season which began on August 1st.  I am delighted for the hard work and the results of  our fencers at local tournaments and at the regional and Super Regional level.  Let's us not forget that our program is relative new in Columbus. Most of our fencers have been only fencing for a year or a year and a half.  Yet in each competition our fencers demonstrated a good fencing level and dominated most of the competitions as the results show. These results are the indicators that our training program is working. We must be doing something right. Nevertheless, we must keep working hard, with more focus, with more passion and dedication. We are on the right path towards our goals for the season, to be able to fence well at the Youth NAC in April in Virginia and at the summer nationals. The competition at the national level is stronger so we must work harder to face the upcoming challenges.  Congratulations to all our fencers for their outstanding results. I am also proud to announce that with the opening of the Fencing Club in Westerville, our membership when up. We have 14 Elite competitive fencers, 12 new students in the Level 1 beginning Youth Program, 6 adults in the beginning level, and 36 new students completed the intro class in the last 3 months. Let’s keep working together, thank you so much for your support and for your loyalty.

There are no national points awarded, but participation in these competitions is required to qualify for both the Y10/Y12 competitions at Summer Nationals Championships and Y10/Y12 events at North American Cups. The Profencing Elite Fencing team will be heading to Rochester, NY on Nov 20th to participate in their first Super Youth Regional (SYC) , Super Youth Circuit (SYC) events allow athletes a chance to earn national points.
